The Traditional Folklore Belt pays homage to Macedonian heritage. Most of Macedonia’s folklore consists of tales, aphorisms, dances, intricate and colorful costumes, and soulful music. Particular attention is devoted to the traditional folk costumes which are created over a long period of time. There are said to be over 70
traditional folk costumes originating from Macedonia, with each region of the country displaying their own characteristics. A key ornamental piece in traditional Macedonian female folklore and bridal costumes was the belt or “pafta”, commonly of a Silversmith’s work and adorned by coins.
