The Palmetto Tree symbolizes strength and courage and represents South Carolina’s heroic defense of the palmetto-log fort on Sullivan’s Island against the British fleet in 1776. In 1939, South Carolina officially named the Palmetto as it’s state tree. The Palmetto Moon is a constant reminder that we can stand tall and overcome anything together as a community.
